DARK SKY

  • What inspired you to cover “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)”?

Well, Peter Burns was almost a hair metal singer in the 80s with his outfit, ha, ha, ha. Seriously, the song was a catchy tune back then, and we wanted to inject some metal into it without losing its catchy quality. Yes, and besides, I love this song 😉

  • How did you approach reimagining this classic track while maintaining its original essence?

We transposed the song a bit higher to make the metal guitar easier to play, and we tinkered with a guitar riff to change the pop synth character a bit. Steff then adapted his drums to the guitar riffing and really put the pedal to the metal during the final chorus. Finally, we adapted the vocals to my style without changing the chorus, but making it significantly more powerful.

  • Can you share any challenges you faced during the recording process of this single?

The biggest challenge was changing the song in a way that all the musicians could identify with, while still maintaining the character of the original and ensuring the single sounded truly powerful.

  • How has your audience responded to your rendition of “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)”?

We received nothing but positive reactions and feedback. At the first performances, the audience immediately got into it and enthusiastically sang the chorus along with us. It was simply wonderful!

  • Does this single indicate a new direction for your upcoming projects?

Not really, although we’ve enjoyed recording and playing ’80s pop hits in the DARK SKY format for years. We still play a song like “Maniac” at gigs with a longer playlist, and it’s still a lot of fun!

  • What themes or messages are you aiming to convey in your future music?

Well, that obviously depends on the events we’ll be confronted with in the near future. We’ve actually already pre-produced a few new songs for the next album, and thematically, they’re somewhat connected to the last album, “Signs Of The Time.” It’s definitely going to be exciting!

  • Are there any collaborations or new genres you’re interested in exploring?

Not yet, but we’re open-minded if something comes along that we haven’t tried yet and that we like. For example, I’ve had the idea of a hip-hop melodic metal song in my head for a long time, but somehow I’ve never finished recording one, because the result never sounded the way I really liked it.

  • Can fans expect a new album or tour in the near future?

As mentioned, we’re already pre-producing new songs, so we’re hoping to release a new album either at the end of 2025 or in the first half of 2026. We’ll also be playing some major festivals and shows in the summer of 2025, and we hope to play our first shows outside of Europe this year. A tour with a bigger act would be great. But we’ll have to wait and see what our label or agency can do for us.

  • How do you see your music evolving over the next few years?

Basically, we’re trying to improve our compositions, our sound, and our performances, making them more professional so that audiences and fans have a great experience with every CD and every concert. But for that, we also need the support of our partners, so it’s important to make progress in this business area as well. If we’re performing at major festivals later in the evening in a few years, then we’ve succeeded 😉

  • What message would you like to share with your fans as you embark on this new phase?

We invite all metal fans to listen to our songs and watch our latest music videos. Leave us your comments and follow us on our social media channels, and hopefully we’ll see you live at one of our concerts sometime, somewhere! Thank you
