Το ‘’A Dramatic Turn of Events’’ είναι το 11 ο στούντιο άλμπουμ των Dream Theater και έρχεται σαν κερασάκι στην τούρτα, μετά την πρόσφατη εμφανισή τους στη χώρα μας. Ώριμοι και δυνατοί, συνεχίζουν στο δρόμο που χάραξαν εδώ και αρκετά χρόνια. Ακόμα και τραγούδια που ξεπερνούν σε διάρκεια τα 10 λεπτά (“Breaking All Illusions”, “Outcry” και “Lost Not Forgotten”) δεν φένεται να κουράζουν. Το άλμπουμ γράφτηκε και ηχογραφήθηκε από τον Ιανουάριο μέχρι τον Ιούνιο του 2011 στα Cove City Sound Studios, στο Long Island της Νέας Υόρκης
