STATE OF SALAZAR

state of salazar

1) What was the trigger and you launched the State of Salazar and when did that happened?
We started the band around 2009/2010, mainly because I had written some songs that I wanted to try out with these guys that I met during my studies at Malmö Music Academy. It started as a project between some friends just for fun, but it became more and more serious along the way. I have always loved the Rock music from the 80’s and especially the kind of music you can hear in the Rocky movies and other similar movies from the 80’s and early 90’s. And that has always been our goal to create feelgood music which makes you wanna work out and feel good about yourself, to honor those bands from the 80’s but at the same time bring something new and fresh to the table.

2) Tell us a few words about your recent record : ” All the Way ”.
I think it’s a solid album without any weak songs. I’m really proud of that record, it turned out just the way we wanted it to. I believe it’s a strong debut album and you have to listen to the whole album to understand what State of Salazar is about. You have the smooth west coast kind of tunes, the great power ballads and the straight forward melodic rock songs combined with a clean distinct sound, a fine balance between keyboards and guitars and a lot of backing vocals. All this delivered with heart, soul and energy. It’s impossible to not buy the album after this advertisement, isn’t it? Hahaha.

3) How would you describe your sound?
I would say we sound like a mix of West Coast, AOR and Melodic Rock together with some Swedish Pop and Arena Rock. If you take bands/artists/composers like Toto, Journey, Queen, Survivor, Chicago, Europe, ABBA, Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton, Jay Graydon, David Foster, Vince DiCola and Bill Conti, put them in a blender together with a hundred of other bands who have made an impression on us, then push the power button and the result is State of Salazar!

4) Surely you will have common and differential musical stimuli as well as favorite artists. With whom-some of them may not be alive now- would you like performing together on stage?
It would be a dream to share the stage with any one of the bands and artists I just mentioned as influences to our sound.

5) What are your plans for the near future?
Right now we’re working on some songs for a second album. So all our plans about the future right now is about making a second album and it’s too soon to say something more about that topic at the moment. All I can say is that there will be a second album, it will kick ass and we’re working really hard to make the second album even better than the first one! To be continued…. hehehe.
